Living on a budget

The above picture is from a receipt at Smith's. We spent $11. We saved almost $45! Amazing savings, thanks to couponing and finding some good sales!

As we're trying to save up for adoption, we've been living on a really tight budget. We've been spending $120 a month on groceries, rather than the $260 we used to spend. Now I know we could be spending less than that even, but we're trying to eat healthy as well, and take good care of ourselves, so I think we're doing pretty good. Every week we'll spend $15 on fresh produce from the farmer's market, and then every 2 weeks we'll spend $30 on other stuff, an sometimes more produce too. This week we got really lucky and only spent $20.45 of the $30.00 we had budgeted for pay day groceries. We also spent a bit less on the produce lately. We've been able to still get plenty of food. Today we got hot dogs for free pretty much, and found some good deals on cereal. What's more, we had a $25 coupon to Smiths for opening a rewards master card. It was a good week for grocery savings!
